I am a 48 year old mother of 3 and a business owner for an addiction treatment center. I spend my days pouring into people to help them find hope and a new way of life. My daughter, who is 8 years old, came to me one day and asked "How do you start a business Mom?". I answered a few questions and then she said "Do you think I could have a business?". That's when I realized, as a child I was always told "you can do anything you put your mind to", but no one ever showed me how to actually execute those things. With that I told Emma, "I'll show you. We will start a business together and you can see how it all happens from the very beginning.". I let her know it was going to be hard work and that she was going to have to commit to it if she really wanted the business to succeed. She smiled so big and replied "I'm all in!". With great excitement Emma immediately came up with what kind of business she wanted to have and she even came up with the name. I knew she had been putting thought into this far before she came asking questions. I then showed Emma how we make a business plan and she studied every move intensely. We prepped with collecting materials, building a studio, getting some awesome technological equipment and tools. Then it was time to start making wreaths. Together we watched a ton of YouTube videos and tutorials. Emma started creating ideas, like blueprints on her iPad and before long I was bringing them to life. Emma has started helping me make the wreaths too and has come up with amazing ideas for future wreaths! With each one we create, we get better. We want our products to be enjoyed by all so we try to price each piece according to time, effort and material, and then we take off $20. This was Emma's idea because she just wants to see her creations sell and her business grow.
